We understand and embrace the theory that play is the most effective tool for children’s learning. This is evident in the flow of the preschool day and the choices that educators offer children. The program is strongly influenced by children’s choices; educators and children work collaboratively to inquire, investigate, hypothesise and extend each other’s learning.
Each child’s sense of agency is promoted as educators intentionally extend children’s skills, enabling them to become independent learners, building resilience and encouraging children to become active members of the preschool and wider community.
We embrace the philosophy of the environment as the third educator. We offer an indoor/outdoor program where nature and sustainability are key focuses.
At Pottsville Community Preschool when we refer to the program we mean the whole day. We make allowances for visitors, weather, spontaneous learning, children’s interests, and we allow the time, and space, to follow children’s interests.
Settling In Help
You can help your child to settle in by showing them where their morning tea, lunch and drink bottle goes, where the toilet and washbasins are, and where their locker for their belongings is. You could then go with them to an activity where they feel comfortable. If you have any concerns during the day as to how your child is settling in please telephone any time to enquire.
